The Wentworth Home is a Retirement and Assisted Living Home located in Dover, NH.
Who can be admitted?
Who can be admitted?
Individuals 60 years or older may apply for admission under the following levels of care:

Independent – The house and the yard have become too much, however the individual is able to care for him or herself, perform light housekeeping in their room, and walk down the stairs for a monthly fire drill.

Assisted Services – This level of care includes medication administration, housekeeping, laundry services, daily reminders, and minimal personal care if needed. The resident must be able to walk down the stairs for a monthly fire drill.

Added Care  – Added Care includes all the benefits of Assisted Care, along with daily personal care. The resident must be ambulatory upon admission.

A pre-admission assessment is completed by a nurse to determine if Wentworth Home can meet the individual’s needs.

An individual must possess income and assets to cover the cost of a five year period at the current monthly rate.

If space is limited, preference is given to residents of Strafford County, Eliot, and the Berwicks.

Wentworth Home recognizes that residents may need increased assistance as time passes. When additional assistance is needed, residents will transition to the appropriate level of care as described above.

Residents who have lived with us for a minimum of one year under Independent or Assisted Care Services and now need daily assistance with personal care are eligible for a reduced, Added Care rate.

Residents who are admitted and meet the qualifying one year period for the reduced Added Care rate usually continue to reside here for life. Upon occasion, the individual’s need for medical care and safety exceed what Wentworth Home can provide. If this is the case, Wentworth Home will offer assistance to the resident and family in identifying a facility that can meet those needs. An individual may choose to leave Wentworth Home at any time, giving a 30-day notice.

Wentworth Home is a non-profit organization with an endowment fund. It is our mission to keep costs affordable to as many area residents as possible while responsibly managing the endowment to ensure the continuation of our service to the community.

There is a $1500.00 non-refundable admission fee, and residents are responsible for all personal expenses. We also offer the convenience of our contract pharmacy, however if a resident who requires medication administration uses an optional pharmacy there is a monthly fee for this service.

Wentworth Home will accept male residents meeting admission criteria. We currently have several men living at Wentworth Home.

Three meals per day are provided by our kitchen staff, who focuses on serving appetizing and nutritious meals prepared from fresh ingredients. Snacks are also available at any time.
Do residents furnish their own rooms?

Residents usually choose to provide the furnishings for their rooms. This allows them to be surrounded by familiar and favorite things. Wentworth Home will provide a furnished room for a one time charge of $500.
Are residents free to leave the building at any time?

Residents are free to be away from the facility as often and for as long as they choose. Residents sign out when they leave and back when they return. Overnight absences require written notification.

Residents are able to keep their vehicle, and parking is provided.

The first step of the admission process is a tour followed by completion of the Admission Application, including the information requested for the financial review. You will meet with the nurse for an assessment of physical ability and medical needs. Your personal physician will be required to provide information prior to admission.
